A combined solids reduction and transfer pumping unit.

The Mono Chopper Hopper™ has been specially developed to improve the processing of organic waste directly at the source. The three-stage system grinds and compacts solids into a homogeneous mass, which is then transferred via a progressive cavity pump.

Waste from production enters the Chopper Hopper™ through a generously sized feed hopper. Inside, two knife-equipped shafts rotate to shred most waste materials such as peels and pits to a size smaller than 1 inch. The pre-macerated material is then conveyed by a screw feeder into a twin-shaft grinder, which further reduces particle size to around 5 mm. Solids that cannot be macerated are retained by the integrated heavy material separator, effectively preventing blockages and damage.
The resulting flowable mass is then pumped to the disposal point via the progressive cavity pump at a rate of up to 2 m³/h. Automatic shutdown in the event of dry running protects both the macerator and the pump from damage.

For user-friendly maintenance, the Chopper Hopper™ features the proven EZ-Strip design, which enables service work on the process equipment while it remains installed.

Key Features:

  • Three-stage maceration of organic waste
  • Faster process times due to a large surge capacity hopper and high flow rates
  • Available for coarse, medium, and fine particle sizes
  • Heavy material separator retains solids that cannot be macerated
  • Angled cutters for grabbing or tearing large objects, with additional cutters for further solids reduction
  • Available in carbon, stainless steel, or specialised materials of construction
  • Cutter shafts and pump internals are made to be easily disassembled, reducing downtime
  • Integrated dry-run protection safeguards the process equipment
  • EZ-Strip design allows maintenance in place without dismantling
